Recently, Luoyang Jinlu has addressed the pain points of on-site operations at a lime mine in Dalian by delivering a customized drilling solution. By pairing the GK40 short‑length, high‑frequency, fast‑stroke impactor with a convex‑face full‑tooth drill bit, the company has helped the customer achieve dual benefits: improved drilling efficiency and reduced equipment fuel consumption.

The mine extracts limestone of F5 hardness, with a highly fractured rock mass. On site, a Jinke 590 drill rig and an Atlas Copco 836 air compressor are deployed, operating in a centralized air‑supply configuration with one compressor serving three drills. When using a 4‑inch impactor from a well‑known international brand paired with a 115‑mm drill bit, several significant drawbacks became apparent: under the one‑compressor‑to‑three‑drills setup, the compressor’s engine runs at high speed for extended periods, resulting in persistently high fuel consumption; meanwhile, the impactor’s drilling efficiency fails to meet production requirements, thereby constraining the mine’s extraction progress.

Taking into account the on-site rock conditions, the gas‑supply system, and the actual operating parameters of the drilling rig, the Luoyang Jinlu technical team did not rely on standard configurations but instead developed a tailored solution: they selected the GK40 short‑type high‑frequency rapid‑impact hammer to reduce air consumption through its optimized design, addressing the limitations of the three‑line gas‑supply setup; and they paired it with a convex‑face full‑flute drill bit to enhance rock‑breaking performance, enabling effective penetration in fractured limestone formations.

A benchmarking and tracking test was conducted on the 43‑platform limestone working face, with both product groups completing 36‑meter drill holes. Comparative data show that the Luoyang Jinlu GK40 impactor paired with a full‑tooth drill bit achieved an average drilling rate of 0.67 m/min, a 13% improvement over the benchmark product’s 0.59 m/min. Meanwhile, the equipment’s engine speed was reduced from 1,770 r/min to 1,590 r/min, resulting in a 9% decrease in air compressor fuel consumption. After 1,000 meters, the spline wear width measured 2.8 mm, demonstrating excellent wear resistance.

This project fully demonstrates Luoyang Jinlu’s capability to deliver industry‑specific, operational‑condition‑driven solutions. Rather than simply providing hardware, it integrates a comprehensive analysis of air‑supply conditions, rock characteristics, and the overall equipment configuration to help mining customers overcome the pressing challenges of “limited air supply, low efficiency, and high fuel consumption,” thereby supporting cost reduction and productivity gains in the mining sector.
